Little ice age

In this set of materials, the reading passage and the lecture are both discussing the topic of the cause of the Little ice age. However, the lecturer disagrees with the idea in the reading passage. He states that the theorem mentioned in the article aren't completely correct, offering several reasons to oppose the article.

The first reason is associated with the Gulf Stream. Although the article claim that the disruption of gulf stream could have caused the Little ice age, the professors argues that the change of Gulf stream could only cool some place's climate such as Europe and part of America and rest of places in the world was not affected. Thus, the professor believes the argument in the article is out of date.

Second, the professor refutes the article by mentioning the amount of the dust caused by volcanic eruption. The article states claims that the dark cloud of dust could block the sunlight and decreased the global temperature. However, the professor says that the large amount of which can cause this effect can also cause the some visual effects such as gray snow or others. There were no such discoveries were reported. Therefore, the professor believes that the amount of dust is not enough to decrease the global temperature.

The third is about the lack of time. While the article indicates the decrease of human population lead to growing of forest and cool the world climate. The professor points that there is not enough time for trees to grow because the human population grew back quickly. Hence, the professor holds the statement is as wrong as other statements mentioned in the article.
